We’re all aware when it is to the Oculus Storefront and its rigorous curation. This is the way we ensure the quality of apps and games high, and stop low-quality ones from slipping through. This makes it harder for independent developers to create their VR content on Oculus.
Oculus has launched the «App Lab» as a method to address this issue. It lets independent developers publish their VR content on an official place without needing to undergo the rigorous selection process of the Oculus Storefront. The App Lab is very similar to the Oculus storefront. You can browse and download apps exactly as you do in the traditional virtual storefront. But, it’s less curated.
If your app does well in the App Lab and is successful, it could be promoted to the official Oculus storefront where it can get more visibility and a larger audience. However, this isn’t based solely on download numbers, but also on factors such as retention metrics, long-term profitability, the development team, etc. oculus rift
